Chateau du Jonchet (via the Art of the Room)

Do you start the year with a vision board, or do you set New Year’s resolutions?
Or perhaps you do neither—and simply sit quietly with a cup of tea letting yourself feel into what you want more of.

There is something undeniably magical about the first week of January. The world feels hushed, almost expectant. A clean page. A pause before the year begins to speak back to us.

When you think about goals, do you think in one-year increments? Three years? Five?
I’ve learned that timelines matter less than clarity. Once a goal is named—truly named—something begins to shift beneath the surface. Opportunities quietly align. Curiosity sharpens. You start noticing doors you hadn’t seen before. Much of it happens unconsciously, as if life itself begins to collaborate with you.

Lately, my dreams have been painted in French hues.

I find myself drawn, again and again, to all things France. French lessons scribbled into notebooks. A new recipe pulled from a well-loved cookbook. French history podcasts playing in the background of an ordinary afternoon. Old French films watched with subtitles on, the language washing over me like music. Even idle moments are spent searching for charming Airbnbs tucked into villages I can’t yet pronounce properly—but somehow already feel connected to.

Somewhere along the way, I fell deeply in love with this most magnificent country. Not just the place itself, but the way of being it represents: intention, beauty, slowness, curiosity, pleasure in the everyday.

And yes—I have many goals wrapped around this love.

But what fascinates me most is how simply allowing myself to name them has already begun to enrich my life. Nothing dramatic. Nothing forced. Just small shifts: the choices I make, what I consume, how I spend my time, what I daydream about when my mind wanders.

This is the quiet magic of goals. Not the pressure. Not the checklist.
But the way life begins to rearrange itself once you give your dreams permission to exist.

Perhaps that’s the real invitation of January—not to demand more of ourselves, but to listen more closely to what keeps calling us back.

For me, right now, that call sounds a lot like France.

Countdown to Spring

Spring is just a week away!

I have flooded the house with tulips, daffodils and hyacinth bulbs  and have placed them in
sweetest bird-nest pots. (psst ...you can purchase the pots at the winery.)
I am anxiously awaiting to greet spring it has been a vey blah winter this year and it seems we have lacked  any sort of sunshine and any normal snowfall.
So I think it is fair to say that the florist has been a little source of joy.

It is like walking into a Ralph Lauren advertisment.

Books

I adore books.
I love when you can have down time and escape into a truly magnificant book.
I also think having a proper place to display your books is equally as wonderful.
So here are a few great interiors that literally knocked this right out of the park.

Kitchen Styling

These two style kitchens are swoon worthy.

Michelle Adams perfectly styled kitchen is just a dream. I love all of it!
The art, the candelabras, the light, my goodess  I could hang out in there for days!

The second group of pictures is from Pierre Emanuel Martin and Stephane Gartotin's  kitchen
in Lyons France,...those floors ..oh my gosh those floors.
It is the collection of the wooden spoons in the glass vessel and the wood  shelving with the picture perfect brackets that make this shelving over the top. It just goes to show a little time spent styling goes a very long way.

Copper and Blush

I am cruhing lately on all things coppery and blush.
It has this feminine rather glamourous  allure to it.
It can be both modern and traditional and I must say  it is catching my attention as of late.

Sugar Paper at Target!

I dashed out to Target today. To get a wee jump on the Holidays.
Imagine my surprise when I came across the Sugar Paper collection in the wrapping section.
Gosh,  I was there forever .... trying to decide what to choose.

As you can see in my selfie I love both the black and gold and the soft mint and gold.
I guess I dress like wrapping paper.
The mint and gold made it to my shopping cart and I just love it!
LOVE IT!

My Family

The last couple of Thanksgiving's we gather up our nieces and nephews and try to organzie a date where we can take a few pictures of them .

This is no easy task, as we all live in different cities , have our children in all different activies, and we all work at different times.

Many dates are cancelled and rescheduled.

On the day of the shoot we are all rather disheveled.

Some of us arrive early ....some of us arrive late.
Some of us love getting our pictures taken.. and some of us ..well..some of us not so much.

Our children are cranky, happy, hungry, excited and tired.

We hit the full spectrum of human emotion.

Imagine my surprise today when I returned home from work and my sister in law left this CD of our family .

Out of all the madness , stands this beautiful family ,cousins that adore each other,
sister in laws that chit chat and brothers that are so close that they  often finish each others sentences.
My crazy italian family is quite a wonderful blessing.

Pretty Office Space

Well it seems you may have lost me to instagram, a fairly big move,  and a silly busy calendar of an sweet 8 year old.

Funny how life gets that way.

I am sitting at my desk and I think it is fair time that I get back to blogging.
So just a quick note to say "Hello!"

Hope you all have been well, I have missed you.
So lets take a few minutes out of our hectic days and grab a lovely spot of tea and get back to business.

Speaking of tea...I have tea tasting happening tomorrow at the iconic Prince of Wales.

Hoda, a stunningly beautiful tea sommlier will drop by to discuss all things tea.
The history, the ritual , and the fun part.... the tasting.
Here is a wee peek of her  business.
